Arvo Coffee was founded by Justin Carriere after years spent working in Australian coffee shops, and the influence runs through everything — the flat whites are among the best in Toronto, the Aussie Magic double ristretto with steamed microfoam is the drink that brings people back, and the sourcing partnerships reflect the same seriousness. The Distillery District original has a rustic warmth with high ceilings and exposed concrete; the Liberty Village location adds a large patio and transitions into a wine bar on weekday afternoons. Between the two, Arvo has made the strongest case in the city for the Antipodean approach to espresso.
